The CD-ROM has been designed to make locating data user friendly. By pointing and clicking at a picture, you begin locating product information. The Green Building Resource Guide's CD-ROM offers the most useable interface of any database program for building design professionals. This means that you can efficiently access product data while you work on drawings. The interface has been designed to fit into the way architects work, rather than the other way around. In this way, we preserve another valuable resource--your professional time. An additional feature unique to this data base is a cost comparison of each product with a commonly used product it would typically replace, the Price Index Number. If you're new to database software, read Using the CD-ROM Database. |
The Green Building Resource Guide Reference Manual has all the information that is available to you on the CD-ROM version. The emphasis is on quick and easy access to information at your finger tips. All product information is accessed in three ways: through a Product Index, Manufacturer's Index, or by Construction Divisions. The reference manual is arranged in Construction Division order from 1 through 16. The loosely bound pages will stay open and lay flat on your work surface. It's designed for single handed access, so the other can keep on working--conserving professional resources. |

The Price Index Number is a factor comparing the cost of
the green product shown with the product labeled Price Index
Standard. The Price Index Standard product has been selected
because it is in common usage and could be replaced by the
green product shown. For example, let's assume the Price
Index Number is "0.60" for recycled paint manufactured by
The Green Paint Company, and the Price Index Standard is
"virgin latex paint". In this example, the listed green
building product would be approximately 60% of the cost of
the Price Index Standard product. | ||
